Name Beemer Location - NC Adoption Fee - $250.00 Very little is known about Beemers background. He had been picked up by animal control, very sickly, very skinny and very scared. At that time he should have weighed around 10 pounds but only weighed 6. He looked like the skeleton of a dog with skin draped over it. But thats not the worst of it. Beemer had been attacked by another dog and was covered with infected puncture wounds. Being attacked could have happened while he was out on the streets or he had been used as a bait dog. Something we will never know. Either way this event had traumatized Beemer greatly. Beemer is now all healed physically and is a very handsome red smooth that is around 3 years old and weighs 11 pounds. Beemer was terrified of his foster home at first. With so many other dachshunds around he was frightened that anyone of them was going to hurt him again. It has taken Beemer along time to be comfortable around multiple dogs, but he is always on the defensive. He can now play something he never would do, but when the playing gets too rough he will stop, bark to let them know hes had enough. Beemer is leery of new people and animals. He needs a little time to warm up. Once you have earned his trust he becomes very loving and a constant shadow. What Beemer needs is a very quiet home with calm people and either no other dog or 1 small one. Beemer is housebroken but also use to a doggie door. Beemer is used to sleeping in the big bed at night and is crate trained. There are no cats or young children in Beemers foster home, but feel that he would be fine with a cat and older children. Beemer is now a healthy neutered little boy who is current on his vaccines. He had his teeth cleaned, is heartworm negative and on heartworm and flea prevention. If you can offer a home where Beemer would have lots of human companionship and would like a lifetime of unconditional love then consider adopting Beemer.
